More Than a Haunted House
A major theatrical production inside a hotel with a very real past.
The Haunted Commercial Hotel is not a temporary attraction built to resemble an old hotel. It is created inside the historic Commercial Hotel, a real multi-level property whose story reaches back to Elko's earliest years.
Every Halloween season, the hotel's rooms, corridors, stairways, and hidden spaces are transformed into multiple immersive haunted attractions. Professional builders, designers, technicians, makeup artists, costumers, and performers work together to create new scenes, original characters, elaborate effects, and unforgettable scares.
Returning guests should never assume they know what is waiting behind the next door.

Scare actors, makeup artists, costumers, builders, scenic artists, prop fabricators, lighting teams, audio crews, animatronics support, security, ticketing, guest services, attraction managers, actor trainers, and backstage support all work together to create the moments guests remember.
Real History
The hotel was here long before the haunted house.
The Commercial Hotel's story began with the Humboldt Lodging House in 1869. The brick core of the building standing today was constructed in the 1890s.
Over the generations, the property has welcomed travelers, gamblers, entertainers, celebrities, workers, and countless residents of northeastern Nevada. Its history also includes documented tragedy, violent deaths connected with the property, local ghost stories, and reports of unexplained activity.

Featured on Ghost Adventures
National attention for one of Elko's most storied buildings.
In 2023, Zak Bagans and the Ghost Adventures crew came to Elko to investigate the Commercial Hotel for the episode "Abandoned in Elko." The episode explored the property's history, longstanding ghost stories, and reported paranormal activity.
The television investigation did not prove the building is haunted. No paranormal experience is guaranteed.
