Safety and accessibility

The regular nighttime haunted attractions are designed to be intense and may include darkness, loud sounds, disturbing imagery, fog, flashing lights, confined spaces, stairs, obstacles, live actors, and sudden scares.

The building includes many stairs, uneven surfaces, narrow areas, obstacles, and spaces with limited lighting. Guests with mobility, medical, sensory, or accessibility concerns should contact the Commercial before purchasing tickets.

Is the Haunted Commercial Hotel inside a real hotel?

Yes. The attraction is built inside the historic Commercial Hotel in downtown Elko. It no longer operates as a hotel.

Is the building actually haunted?

The Commercial has a longstanding reputation for paranormal activity and local ghost stories. Whether the building is truly haunted is something guests must decide for themselves. No paranormal experience is guaranteed.

How many haunted attractions are there?

The Haunted Commercial Hotel presents multiple attractions. The number, names, themes, and experiences may change from season to season.

Is it the same haunted house every year?

No. Rooms, characters, pathways, scenery, effects, and sometimes entire attractions are redesigned or replaced.

How many people work at the event?

More than 100 cast and crew members help bring the Haunted Commercial Hotel to life, including actors, artists, builders, technicians, security personnel, and support staff.

Is it appropriate for children?

Parents and guardians should use their own judgment. Less-intense lights-on experiences may be offered on select dates.

Are year-round tours available?

Yes. Short lights-on tours of the second floor and longer nighttime ghost tours may be booked throughout the year by advance arrangement.

Is a ghost tour the same as the haunted house?

No. The Halloween haunted house is a staged theatrical attraction. Year-round ghost tours focus on the building's history, local legends, and reported paranormal activity.
